It took some work, but we finally got BJ's car to spin to 7500 rpm. The E46 M3s were able to spin to redline, but we still suspect that they are in emissions mode. The ECU was trying to make them run as clean as possible instead of making them put down maximum horsepower. That tells me that the numbers that they got, while impressive, were probably 40 or 50 short of what they would see if you could test hp on the street.
