Day 9: Gooseberry Mesa, Hurricane, Utah

Gooseberry is an amazing ride. We decided to make it into an epic. Because of the rain a few days before, the road leading into Goosberry was unpassable for my little car. SUVs were making it just fine. We ended up riding over 7 miles in to the trailhead. I was riding the single speed, so J pretty much went off on his own for the first part of the ride. I think he needed to burn off a few of the grumps.

Once we got on the trail, the ride was spectacular. We hit the south rim and then ran through The Hidden Valley Maze. What a great section of trail. Unfortunately it brought out a weakness in J's bike. He broke a suspension pivot bolt and we had to cut the ride short. We had a blast while we were there, and we left enough for another day's ride.

Climbing up

This little blip is dang steep.

Jay climbs it quite well.

And rides down it too

Who's that guy?

Wow he can really ride a bike.

I have to say, he's quite handsome too.

And remarkably intelligent.

He is the most amazing rider we saw all day.

Cute photo that the bikes posed for.
