Karate Monkey
March 2, 2005
Here's my latest bike project. Jason got me a GREAT deal on a frame and I used a bit of bonus money to buy some new parts to hang on it. The first night of work on the bike was to rust proof the frame. I used frame saver on it to keep it from rusting on the inside. I also documented some of the parts that I got for the bike. I managed to get everything built except for the wheels and cranks. I'm still waiting on spokes and the cranks, chain and freewheel.
Here's what I've done so far.
Fork Me!
Gracie and the Monkey
Phil's SS disc hub
The disc mount side
Disc front hub
Hope Mono Mini brake
Monkey assembled
Another look at the monkey

Almost Done
It will never be this clean again.
It looks better when its dirty.
After a Great Falls Shakedown ride
Eat Dirt.
There's still work to be done. I need to drill the cable stops on the top tube so I can route the brake hose through them. I want to cut off the canti bosses both front and rear so I can get a little cleaner clearance on the bike. I also want to replace the white zip ties with black ones. I'll shorten up the brake hoses too. They're about 6" too long.
I'll do all of that on Wednesday.
The next monkey....
My single speed was lonely. I needed a geared bike and 26ers were just not doing it for me. So I got another monkey.
I took the parts off my Truth and put them on the Monkey. Seems to work pretty good.
Front stopping blingage
Shifty bits
Dueling Drivetrains...

Possibly the best product Cannondale has ever made.
